feelings dont come knocking.
pain, attraction, love, guilt, depression. not a single one asks for permission before entering, politely wipes their feet on the doormat, or greets you with small talk before interrupting your otherwise enjoyable life. i mean, if they at least had the decency to…
this.

Insomniac Song of the Night
“I’m Coming After You” by Owl City off the new album The Midsummer Station
ps. so excited for this album to finally be released. this song is fun, catchy, and full of puns, just like an old owl city song, woo woo woo. I do hope there is a deluxe version of this album though cause I would like even more songs, since half the album has already been released through the single and EP.
Insomniac Song of the Night
“Break Free” by Go Periscope off their new album Wasted Youth
ps. Yes! finally one of my favorite groups are back with a new album and it was well worth the wait. Every track on this album is excellent and it was hard to pick just one for insomniac song but this one hits hard and I like it a lot. enjoy!

ps. one of the songs soundtracking this summer for me so far
Insomniac Song of the Night
“Good Time” by Owl City (Feat. Carly Rae Jepsen)
Ps. This is Owl City’s newest single to be released tomorrow and it will be featured on his upcoming album The Midsummer Station that will be released on August 21st. Even though the song is a little more electropop than electronic, its such an uplifting and lighthearted song. There’s nothing like a good old Owl City summer jam and I feel like it would be impossible to listen to this song and not feel (for lack of a better word) good. Not to mention it was co-written by Matt Thiessen :]
“Good morning and good night/I wake up at twilight/It’s gonna be alright/We don’t even have to try/It’s always a good time[r] <3”

Insomniac Song of the Night
“Shooting Star” by Owl City off the new Shooting Star EP
ps. Adam Young released this four song EP as a preview of his next album to be released sometime between Summer and Fall 2012. A good start but I would like to see him use a little more electronic elements like on his previous albums. Either way, so happy he is releasing new music and it just kinda makes me want even more. :]
“Way up in the air, you’re finally free, and you can stay up there, right next to me
All this gravity will try to pull you down, but not this time. When the sun goes down, and the lights burn out,
Then it’s time for you to shine.
Brighter than the shooting star, so shine no matter where you are.”

Insomniac Song of the Night
“Some Nights” by fun. off their new album of the same name
What an excellent way to start off their sophomore album with a song that really emphasizes their name. The song itself has a very significant message reflecting on beliefs, regrets, but in the end alludes to the wonderful things that can come from the hardships and heartaches in life. While these are all serious topics, the melody sounds like something out of the Lion King, and it is this juxtaposition that makes it one of my favorite tracks among many on a really great album.

Insomniac Song of the Night
“Someday, Somehow” by Every Avenue off their latest album Bad Habits
“Someday, somehow,
I’ll make it home and I, I’ll stick around
One day I’ll say,
No more packing up,
I’m settling down.
Someday, someday I’ll figure it out,
Someday, somehow”

“Surrender” by Angels & Airwaves off the new album Love, Part II
ps. I finally got to see the AvA movie Love, and also got an entire new album along with it. This album expands on the idea of the first album that was released for free through the band’s website in 2010. The band took leftover pieces of score they made for the movie and created songs and a whole new album out of it. I was very impressed with the movie, the visuals were so stunning and the melodic score only helped to render these scenes more allusive. The album (along with the movie) contains the theme of looking at the human mind and condition and it’s need for connection, and how we all strive to leave our mark on the world; but also how we can’t accomplish this abandoned and alone.
“You feel like you hit a wall/But you survive/And it was hard for you to swallow/I’ve been to that place before/In spite of luck/When you awake, a new tomorrow”

“Ever After” by Marianas Trench off their new album Ever After
ps. Marianas Trench makes innovative pop punk music; while mixing in harmonies, electronic and other styles, they manage to keep the pop punk genre refreshing and meaningful. Say what you want about Canada, but they have really great music. This is the epic ballad opener of the new album. I like how the album is seamless, flowing from one song into the next. The lyrics to this song also foreshadow some of the following tracks on the album, with references to “Porcelain” and “Toy Soldiers.” Also I dig how it flows into Haven’t Had Enough at the end.
“Don’t you move/Can’t you stay where you are, just for now/I could be your perfect disaster/You could be my ever after”
I don’t understand what the big deal is with Pinterest…Tumblr did it first and still does it better.

“Blame It On Me” by Frankmusik off the album Do It in the AM
ps. flashback to my very first insomiac song (“In Step” by Frankmusik), it’s crazy how looking back through these songs I remember exactly what I was doing and my state of mind when I posted it. Memories through music.
Insomniac Song of the Night
“Wishing Well” by blink-182 off the album Neighborhoods
ps. I was waiting so long for this album to actually come into realistic existence. I really like how elements of all the bands associated with Blink are really apparent on most of the tracks. I think they did a great job of blending their classic style with aspects of Box Car Racer, Angels & Airwaves, and +44. They stay true to what made me fall in love with them, the carefree, fun, punk rock and effortlessly incorporate a sense of maturity. In a way, it kind of mirrors the lives of us that grew up listening to them.
“But every time I start to panic/I’m a little bit shy/A bit strange and a little bit manic”
